About us
This initiative was born during a bootcamp oraganised by Merck Group and Dalberg in 2022. From there, we started creating projects that have impacted over 2,500 children in Bugesera district and we target to reach new places.

Bertrand BYISHIMO
Bertrand Byishimo, a Youth NTDs Champion, is the Founder of Amazi Health Initiative, which combats Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) through projects like the Bilharzia Storytelling Lab, reaching over 2,500 children in Rwanda. At 25, he also works as the Programs Coordinator for Cardiothoracic Surgery at King Faisal Hospital and previously served as a Risk and Communication Officer at Rwanda's Ministry of Health and a Health Reporter for The New Times Rwanda. Bertrand is an MPH candidate, holds a degree in Healthcare Management, and is a Global Health Corps Fellow and member of the Skin NTDs Technical Working Group.
Yvonne Ninyembabazi, a Rwandan Malaria & NTDs Young Female Champion, is the Country Director of Amazi Health Initiative and a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist. She works in the Pathology Laboratory department of King Faisal Hospital and is an active member of the Rwanda Malaria Youth Army. A graduate of the Biomex program at Hochschule Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, she has advanced training in molecular biotechnology. Additionally, Yvonne has demonstrated leadership and soft skills as a Representative of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and the founder of INES Biomedical Center.
Yvonne NINYEMBABAZI
Olive Ntete is a skilled communications professional and health reporter with two years of experience as a News Anchor/Reporter at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency. She has covered diverse topics including health, education, and social justice, while also serving as an English news presenter. Olive leads media operations at Calvary Wide Fellowship Ministries, overseeing livestreaming, graphic design, and visibility efforts for the 1,500-member organization. Fluent in English and French, she has experience in interpretation, translation, and marketing, previously working as a Marketing Assistant at Clickazi. She holds a Bachelor's in Mass Media and Communication from Mount Kenya University.
